I AM NOT AFRAID

Pastor Diane Feola

Psalm 91:5-8 (AMP) You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.  A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.  Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked.

We are continuing with Psalm 91, and it just gets better and better.  In these verses, we learn that no matter what horrible plagues or calamities come on the earth, they will not touch us.  Verse 5 is a key.  Do not be afraid!  The enemy tries to make you afraid.  He wants you to look around at all that is going on around you.  Faith in God’s great love and grace will calm all those fears.  God is for you, and because He is, a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it does not come near you!

Put your trust and confidence in God’s great love for you.  He has made every provision for your care and protection.  He is the Good Shepherd Who watches over His sheep.  His eye is on you.  He has given you the Word, and His Spirit, to make you an overcomer in this life!

This Psalm covers every part of our day: the night, the morning, and noontime.  It also covers all attacks: plots, slanders, pestilence, and destruction.  But in all of that, and all through your day and night, you need to remain inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High.  Lean on Your Father, stay close to Him, and hide yourself in His big shadow!

Today, do not let fear get in.  Cast all of your anxieties, all of your worries, all of your fears once and for all on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully (1 Peter 5:7).

Confession:  Today, I am not afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.  A thousand fall at my side, ten thousand at my right hand, but it does not come near me.  I am only a spectator.   I am inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High!
