Joyce Meyer Devotional for the Day :DON’T BE DESTROYED
Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Too many Christians go through life not living in the blessings of God, yet His blessings are available to everyone. You might say, “Why are we not living in them?” Well, this verse in the Old Testament tells us pretty clearly in the first part, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” You see, when we do not take time to dig into the Word of God and see the many promises that God, our loving Father, has given to us, then we live only in this world’s system, and this world’s system is passing away.
Think about it. How would I know about salvation unless I read it in the Bible, or heard someone preach this truth from the Bible? It is the same with the fruits of the Spirit, or healing, or provision, or any other benefit that the Bible has for us. Also, too many Christians are living on secondhand knowledge. This is ok, but there is something very special when you open your own Bible and have the Holy Spirit speak to your heart. At that point, it becomes so real that no devil can take it from you.
Try it, and you will see that God’s Word truly does not return void, but it will accomplish what it was sent out to do. Read His Word for yourself. Do not say, “I do not understand it.” That is a lie from the devil. The Bible is God’s love letter to you. Read it that way. Read it over and over. See what it says about you.
You will find treasure like never before. You will find bushels of blessings that will last you throughout your whole life. Think of all the time that you spent watching a show on TV that you will not even remember in a week. You could have taken some of that time and read His Word, and that will last you for eternity! So go ahead. Make that decision to read His Word, and you will not lack in any good thing.
CONFESSION: Today, I make a quality decision to read the Word and to be a doer of it. I am going for a treasure that will last for all eternity!
