Joyce Meyer Devotional for the Day :HOLY SPIRIT PRAYERS (Part 1)
Ephesians 1:16-19 (NKJV) I do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.
Throughout the epistles written by the Apostle Paul, we see some of his Holy Spirit inspired prayers. These prayers are full of the power of God, and can be prayed for ourselves or for others. We see in Ephesians 1:15-23, a powerful prayer to help us, and others, have open eyes to the things of the Spirit.
In verse 17, Paul is praying that God would give us or whoever we’re praying for, a “spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.” So many times, people’s eyes are closed by demonic influences, and it takes real prayer to break those hindrances. As we pray this prayer over people, we are asking the Holy Spirit to open their eyes to the things of God.
Do you know someone who seems to be closed to the things of God? Pray this prayer over them as often as you can. Thank God for opening their eyes so their understanding will be enlightened, and that they might understand their place in the kingdom of God. There is no power stronger then the Word of God, and these prayers that we are going to look at in the next few days have the breath of the Spirit upon them. Use them, and see what God is going to do!
Confession: Today I pray for _______________, and I am going to pray this Holy Spirit anointed prayer over them. Father, thank you for opening their eyes as I pray this prayer, that they will see what is available to them in the Kingdom of God.
