Joyce Meyer Devotional for the Day :GIRD YOUR WAIST WITH TRUTH
Ephesians 6:13-14(NKJV) Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness.
God wants us to put on His armor so that we are able to stand in the evil day. When is the evil day? Well, I would say it is today! So let us get started by getting this armor on. There is an interesting statement here when it says, “Having done all, to stand. Stand therefore…” This is an old military phrase which means that after you have won a battle, be ready to go into battle again. In other words, never let your guard down. Always be ready for the enemy to come at you.
The first piece of the armor that He talks about is to have our waist girded with truth. To do this, I need to know what truth is, and the Bible makes that very clear. Jesus said in John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your Word is truth.” The Word of God is truth, so to have on this piece of the armor, I need to get His Word within me.
Each day as I wake up and get dressed, I need to get spiritually dressed also. The way I do this is to get His Word in my heart. I can do this in so many ways. I could read His Word or meditate on it. I can listen to it as I am driving, or let it roll in my mind while I am still in bed. Whichever way works best for you, do it, and let it become real within you.
As you do this, the truth of God’s Word will be on you to protect you. Here it says that it girds your waist. It holds the other pieces of the armor together and protects you from the arrows of the enemy. So today, get into the Word, in whichever way is best for you, and see His protection.
CONFESSION: Today, I have taken time to get His Word within me, and I know that I have girded my waist with His truth. I am holding all of my armor together with His Word, deep in my heart.
