Joyce Meyer Devotional for the Day :THE RIGHT TO BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD
John 1:12 (NKJV) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
God has given us the right to become His very own children. Think of that: I am a child of God! I am not going to be. I am now! Many would say, “Yes Pastor, that is correct. When we get to heaven, we will be children of God.” No, that is not what the Word teaches us. It says so clearly that now we are children of God!
In 1 John 3:1-2 it says, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”
Did you see that? Now, we are children of God! So if I am a child of God, and God is my Father, then He has a responsibility to me, and me to Him. You might ask, what do you mean by that? Well, as an earthly father, it is my responsibility, and joy, to provide for my children’s needs, to help them in their lives, to make sure they have food to eat and nice clothes to wear. How much more does God, our Heavenly Father, want to provide? I believe that God wants to do this and so much more!
In Matthew 7:11 it says, “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” He wants to give good gifts! Not sickness and disease. Good gifts! Not pain and suffering. Jesus came and showed us the Father’s heart, and He wants us to enjoy a good life. Like He said in John 10:10, “I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
So are you having an overflowing life today? If you say no, then start talking to your Abba, because He wants you to have one. It’s His desire to bless and help you each day of your life!
CONFESSION: God is my very own Father. He loves me and cares for all of my needs. Today, I declare that I am a love-child of a love-Father!
