Matthew 7:24-27 (NKJV) 24 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.
Jesus tells us here that in order build a strong house, we need to be doers of His Word. We see in this story that the storms of life come against everyone, but those who built their house on the Rock (those who took the time to dig deep and get God’s Word in them) were able to withstand the storms when they came.
Troubles come against everyone who is alive. As one minister said: a woman came up to him after a meeting and asked if he would pray that the devil would leave her alone. The minister replied, “Do you want me to pray that you would die?”
You see, as long as we are alive the devil will bring things against us, but as we stay strong in the Lord and the power of His Word, they will not be able to knock us down. Remember, if God is for you, who can be against you? So go ahead and build a strong foundation and a strong house today. Then after the problems have come and gone, you will still be around!
Confession: I am making a decision today to be a doer of the Word. I will read God’s Word and see what He wants me to do, and then do it. After the storms have come and gone, I will still be standing!
