Acts 7:9-10 (NKJV) And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him 10 and delivered him out of all his troubles, and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
God’s favor is a wonderful thing, and those who are in Christ Jesus have it! The Bible declares that we are children of God. I do not know about you, but my children have special favor with me. If that is how it is with me as an earthly father, how much more with our Heavenly Father?
God loves all the people of the world, but like it says in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” God is looking for people that believe in His favor, that trust that His Word is true, and that know that He is a good Father Who showers us daily with His blessings.
Joseph, in this story, did it right. Sold by his brother’s into slavery, he still had favor in Potiphar’s house. When Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce him, he stayed true to God, even though it got him thrown into prison. In prison, Joseph had favor and moved to the top of the prisoners. After a period of time, things started happening, and Joseph became second in charge of all of Egypt! This is a true riches to rags to riches story, and it came about because the favor of God was upon him.
Today we have the favor of God upon us, and that is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Since we are now in Him, because of us accepting the finished work that He did, we have God’s favor on us, but just like we read in the verse from Hebrews, we need to believe it. Believe that God is for you and not against you. Believe that good things are coming your way. You see, God has blessed you in this life because you made a decision to do it His way, just like Joseph. So today, live in the favor of God!
CONFESSION: I have the favor of God in my life, and it is all because of Jesus. He is my King and Lord, and I am blessed because of Him!
