NO FEAR

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

We see that it is not God who gives fear.  God has given us power, love, and soundness of mind.  So where does fear come from?  Fear comes from the pit of hell.  So many people are in bondage to so many phobias in their lives, and it holds them back from their potential.

We can talk about the fears we hear about so often, like the fear of heights or the fear of spiders, but all fears come from their source, and it all started at the fall of man.  In creation, God did not put fear within Adam or Eve, yet when they ate of the forbidden fruit, this fear entered their lives.  Look at how it brings it out in Genesis 3:8-9: “And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.  9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

Adam answers God with the words “I was afraid,” even though just before this, we see that God came down daily in the cool of the day to fellowship with them, and for them to enjoy company with the Creator.  Fear came into the world at the fall, but it has now been cast out through the finished work of Jesus at the cross.

We do not have to live under the bondage of fear.  We can live in the victory of the finished work of the cross.  Jesus has destroyed the works of the devil, and fear is one of them.  So today, make a decision to walk in the victory that Jesus Christ has won for you!

Confession:  God has not given me a spirit of fear, so today, I speak to the spirit of fear that has held me in bondage for too long.  __________ (name your fear), you have to leave me today in Jesus Name!  Christ has given me the victory over you, and I proclaim it in Jesus Name!
