Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV) That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
What an amazing promise from the Word of God that God, our Father, wants each and every person to be saved. He made this great plan of salvation within the reach of every person. He did not make it just for the high and mighty. He made it for you and me!
I think of a man named Martin Luther. He tried to live a holy life for God, and even became a monk, but He found out that no one can live holy enough to reach God’s standards. Then he saw in the Bible that, “The just shall live by faith.” He received the revelation that salvation was a gift from God, accepted by faith in Jesus Christ, and not on our own merits. Once he saw this, it was like a ten-ton weight was taken off of him, and he changed Christianity in a big way.
You see, it is all about Jesus! He is the One that went to the cross and died for our sins. He is the sacrifice that the Father accepted for the sins of the world. If it was our good works, then none of us stood a chance. But because He is the spotless Son of God, and His sacrifice was perfect and accepted by the courts of heaven, all I have to do is what these verses tell me to do, and I receive eternal life!
So today, do not try to stand before God on your own merit. Do not say, “Look how good I am!” or “Look at all that I have done!” No! Our righteousness is but filthy rags. When we come before God and say, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice that You have given to the world, and I believe today that He died on the cross for me, and that my sins are forgiven by His sacrifice,” then look out! Eternal life will come into our lives. This is the great exchange, He took my filth, and I get His righteousness. What a deal!
CONFESSION: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He died on the cross for me. Today, I am born again, and I am a child of God!
