PRAY FOR AMERICA

Psalms 146:5-10 (NKJV) Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,

Whose hope is in the Lord his God, 6 Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; Who keeps truth forever, 7 Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners. 8 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; the Lord raises those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. 9 The Lord watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; but the way of the wicked He turns upside down. 10 The Lord shall reign forever—Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!

Our God is a God of freedom.  He is a God of liberty.  Our Jesus came and preached liberty to the captives.  I do not know about you, but I was bound up, and then God came into my life and set me free.  He is a God that looks out for the fatherless and the widow.  He is a God who raises up those who are bowed down.

As we celebrate Independence Day, we see the freedom that we have as a nation, because this is a Christian nation set on Christian ways.  As long as we continue to lift up Jesus and the things of God, this nation will continue to prosper.  But if we take Christ out of it, then God will have to step back, and that will let the enemy in.

Fellow Christian, we are the ones that need to pray, and lift up our leaders, and the USA.  We are not of this world, but the Scripture is so clear that if we pray for those in authority, we will lead a quiet and peaceable life.  1 Timothy 2:1-4 says, “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

So this Independence Day, let us pray!  Let us pray for America like we never have before, and let us see God do mighty things before Jesus comes to take us home to be with Him.  True freedom is knowing God and trusting Him with all of our lives!

CONFESSION:  This day, I lift up my country and pray that God will bring a great revival to America.
