RESPECT YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER

Malachi 3:16-17 (NKJV) Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name. 17 “They shall be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels.  And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.”

Malachi 4:2 (NKJV) But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves.

Many people look at the words, “THE FEAR OF THE LORD,” and get all messed up.  They think that we are supposed to dread God, or walk around with a fear that God is going to get us for every little mistake we make.  But that is the farthest from the truth!  God is our Father, and He wants us to love Him and have respect for Him.

While I was growing up, I had respect for my earthly father.  He was a good man that wanted to provide for his wife and children.  He made sure that we had a roof over our heads and food to eat.  He cared about us when we got sick and took us to the doctor, even when he did not have a lot of money.

If my earthly father was this good to me, how much more is my Heavenly Father, the One who created me and knew me before I was in my mother’s womb?  God does not want us to walk around scared of Him.  He wants us to enjoy Him and love Him, and also to respect Him as Almighty God, the Creator of all things.

So today, learn the proper fear of the Lord.  Learn His ways.  The way you do this is through His Word, the Bible.  Learn what pleases Him and brings joy to His heart.  Also, learn what does not please Him, and stay away from those things.  God, our Father, is looking for those that want a close walk with Him, and that is something I desire.  How about you?

CONFESSION: I love my Heavenly Father, and I want to do the things that bless Him.  I choose to walk in the fear of the Lord, because I understand how good He is.
