ADOPTED INTO THE FAMILY

Romans 8:14-17 (NKJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Some people are born into a famous family, and go through life enjoying all the rights and privileges of being born that way.  Others are born into a famous family, and never enjoy any of the blessings because of ignorance or rebellion.

We, as children of God, are adopted into a very famous family: the family of God!  We have a right to all the privileges that come with it.  In the same way that a person can be ignorant of his rights and privileges in the natural, we, as children of God, can be ignorant of our benefits.

God has given us His Word, which is His will and testament, and we can have anything that His Word says we can have.  When a person dies and leaves an estate to someone, it is up to the heir to read the will so he can find out what he inherited.  It is the same with us as children of God.  We have inherited a great and vast inheritance, and as we take time to read the legal document, the Bible, we can see all the wealth that God has for us: the wealth of spiritual and natural things.

So take some time today, as a child of the King, and read what His Word declares.  When you find a great promise there, say out loud, “That is mine!  I am taking that by faith today!  I am going to be like the woman with the issue of blood that pushed through to receive what belonged to her.  I am going to receive what belongs to me, because of all that Jesus has done for me!”

Confession: Today, I declare and decree that I will receive all that the Bible says is mine!  I am going to dig in the Word and find all that Jesus bought for me by His death and resurrection.
