BE HOLY

Leviticus 11:45 (NKJV) For I am the LORD who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

When the children of Israel came out of Egypt and were going to the Promised Land, God gave them commandments to live by.  In this verse, God is saying for them to be holy because He is holy.  Many have taken this to mean that we are to live holy lives.  We are supposed to do that, but I have found that every time I try to be holy in my own strength, I fail miserably.

I want to live a holy life, but I make so many mistakes in my course of life, and when I do, I get into condemnation, and then I really mess up.  Do you know what I mean?  So what are we to do?

I have found that I need to live in the holiness of Jesus.  He has become my all.  He is my substitute.  Because He was able to live a perfect life, I can live a perfect life, through him.

Now you might say, “Wait a minute.  I do not live a perfect life.  I blow it many times!”  Yes that is true, but when we identify with Jesus, He takes all of our bad, all our weaknesses, all our shame, and in its place He gives us His strength, He gives us His good, and He gives us His righteousness.  All we have to do is believe it and receive it!

When we identify with Christ, we get all the good, because He took all the bad.  What a great exchange!  So today, do not look to your weaknesses; look to His strength.  When we do that, it empowers us to overcome our weaknesses, and it gives us the power to live a holy life of world overcoming strength.  So take on Jesus today, and see how things all work out for the good to those who love the Lord.

Confession:  Today, I choose not to look at my strengths or weaknesses.  I choose to look at Jesus.  As I do, I see Him high and lifted up.  I see Him who overcame everything for me, giving me the strength to overcome!
