WAIT AND GO

Matthew 28:18-19 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:4-5 (NKJV) And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Many people tell us that the last words that Jesus spoke to His followers before His ascension was to “Go,” but by looking at these two verses, He told them to wait, and then go.  You see, Jesus knew how important it was for His followers not to go in their own strength, but to go in the power of the Holy Spirit.  He wanted them filled with His Spirit, and then to go into all the world and help many come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Too many times, we go before we get instructions from headquarters.  We rush out the door and never take time to ask the Holy Spirit if there is anything that we need to watch out for today, or if there is someone that He wants us to speak to.  It says in His Word that the Holy Spirit will bring things to our attention.

John 14:26, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

The Holy Spirit wants to be an active part of our lives to help us each and every day.  He wants to warn us when trouble is up ahead.  He wants to give us wisdom in our dealings in life, and so many times we are just too busy to listen.  You know, sometimes I think that we are just TOO BUSY, and we miss out on His direction and leading.

Jesus told us that the Holy Spirit would be just like Him, and that He would live in us.  So let us take some time today to listen to what He has to say.

CONFESSION: I am going to take some time today to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit Who lives within me.  He is my Helper in life!
