HIS WORD IS MAGNIFIED

Psalms 138:2 (KJV) I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

I want us to look at the second part of this verse: “For thou hast magnified thy Word above all thy name.”  God has placed His very Word, the Bible that you hold in your hand, above His very Name.  Think about that for a moment!

If your boss were to say to you, “Next week, you are going to be getting a raise,” you would say, “Thank you,” because you trust his word.  If a doctor were to say, “Take this medicine, three times a day, for ten days, and you will be just fine,” we trust his word, because he is a doctor.  And if a lawyer that you hired said, “We are going to do this, and everything is going to be ok,” you would trust him.

I think you are getting where I am going here.  If we put so much trust in the word of our boss, or a doctor, or a lawyer, how much more trust should we put in the Word of God, which cannot lie?  It says in Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”

What confidence we should have in the promises in His Word.  It should be like the word of a faithful friend; it is done!  When we come to that place in our heart that we can trust God and His Word, which he magnified above His Name, we will see so many more prayers answered!

So today, look in your Bible, and when you see one of the great promises that He has given us, say, “Thank You Father!  I receive what you have promised me, and I will not let it go.  Your Word is greater than the word of a lawyer, or doctor, or even my best friend.”

Confession:  Let God be true, and every man a liar.  If God said it, and He has given me this great promise from His Word, I know that it will come to pass.  Today, I exalt the Word of God in my life over anything that anyone else might say.
