Joyce Meyer Devotional for the Day :I’M A CHILD OF THE KING
Galatians 4:7 (NKJV) Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Who am I? We see so many people in the world trying to figure this out. Who am I? If I want to find this out, I need to go to the source. My source, and I pray your source, is the Word of God, the Bible.
The Word of God tells me where I came from, and where I am going. That gives me complete contentment within myself. I know that I might have been the driver of my life, but I have given God the wheel to help me in my race. I have found out that God is much better with this than I am, so I say, “Lord, tell me which way to go and I will follow you.”
As we look at this question today, of “Who am I?” we find from the Word of God that we are King’s kids, heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ. It says in Revelation 19:16, “And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Guess who He is the King and the Lord of? You and me!
When we know this, and accept this great privilege that God Almighty has given to us, we live a life of blessings and not curses. God does not curse His own; He only blesses.
I love the way that the Amplified Bible brings out this verse in Romans 5:17, “For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”
Did you see it? We are to reign as kings in this life, through Jesus Christ! So, who are you? You are a King’s kid, an heir of God, and a joint heir of Christ! Start thinking that way, and you will start living that way.
Confession: Today, I declare and decree that I am a child of the King. I am a joint heir with Christ. I know who I am. I am in Him, and I choose to live the abundant life that He has promised me!
