PLANT THOSE ROOTS DEEP

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NKJV) “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Blessed!  How many of us enjoy that word?   I want to be blessed in all that I do.  I want to be blessed in all that the Lord has given me to do.  So here it says that the person that is blessed is the one who puts his trust and hope in God.

You see, many times we trust in man, and we can even make idols of people.  We trust that they will get us out of this situation, or they will do this or that.  In these verses, the Lord is saying that if we put our trust in Him, He will take good care of us.

In verse eight, He states that we will be like a tree planted by the waters that puts its roots deep.  When drought comes to the world, we have our Father’s assurance that it is all going to be fine for us.  In fact, it is going to be better then fine.  During times of drought, we will not stop yielding fruit.

Now that is not famine; that is abundance!  Even when things in this world are going crazy, if I put God in charge of my time, talent, and treasure, and give Him what He asks of me, then no matter what happens to this world system, God will continue to bless me.  I have heard stories that even during the Great Depression, as people continued to give God the first part of their increase, God provided for and blessed them.  Our God is faithful to His Word!

So today, do not lean on the world system that is going to collapse.  Lean on God’s Word and His ways, and watch the blessings come your way.  He is not a man that He should lie.  He is ever truthful.

Confession:  Today, I choose God’s ways and not what I think, or even see, of this world’s system.  Even though I am in this world, I am not of it.  God has a greater blessing in store for me.
