SEEK GOOD, NOT EVIL

Amos 5:14-15 (NKJV) Seek good and not evil, that you may live; so the LORD God of hosts will be with you, as you have spoken. 15 Hate evil, love good; establish justice in the gate. It may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

God, our Heavenly Father, is a good God, and He wants us to have hearts like His.  He wants us to seek good and not evil.  He wants us to live, and be blessed, and be a blessing.  God, our Father, wants us to hate evil, but not to hate people.  He wants us to pray for those that cause evil, because, just like us, they need Him.

Too many times, we look at evil in this world and we get mad at the people that cause it, but what we need to do is get mad at the forces behind that evil.  The scripture states in Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

You see, just like the song we used to sing says, “People need the Lord.”  People need to see deep into the eyes of Jesus, and see His goodness.  They need to see that He is a forgiving God, and that He is also merciful, slow to anger, and quick to forgive.

What I want us to see here today is that satan goes about like a roaring lion, and he is trying to devour people.  But the Greater One lives in us, and we can take our God-given authority and bind these powers up to help humanity be set free. In Matthew 18:18 it states, “Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.”

So let us take our authority as believers, and help people by praying like we never have before.  Let us bind up satan’s works, and see more and more people come into the kingdom.  Remember, we are God’s mouthpieces here on the earth.

CONFESSION: I make a decision today to help people.  To help them with my life, by learning my authority in Christ, and by praying like I have never prayed before.
