GET THE WORD DOWN DEEP

Isaiah 43:1-3 (NKJV) But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. 3 For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

I was once at a church service where the speaker was a man named Norman Williams*.  He was in a plane accident on the Canary Islands in which two huge 747’s crashed on the runway and burned. Only a few people out of more than 500 escaped. The rest were killed.

He told us that it was miraculous how he got out.  He looked at the people on both sides of him, and it was so hot, the flesh just melted off of them. They became skeletons instantly.  He said that people who were normally nice little old ladies yelled out curses and cursed God.  He brought out that what was in their hearts just came out.

But what came out of his mouth was different.  He had been seeking God, and he and his mother prayed that he would be safe before he left on that trip.  The first thing to come out of his mouth was the Name of Jesus, and verses of God’s protection. He said that he had a huge fireball come right at him but he was not burned.

He said that there was an explosion right above his head, and the plane roof, which was ten feet high at that point, was torn open. He jumped up right through that hole, even though he was fifty years old and overweight.  God supernaturally delivered him.

I think about this story with today’s verses in mind.  This is why it is so important to get the Word of God into your mind, and deep within your heart.  Things happen in this world, but when we have our shield of faith on and the sword of the Spirit sharpened, we can fight the things that come against us.  Today, make a decision to put God first, and make His Word number one in your life.

Confession:  Today, I make a decision to meditate on God’s Word, and to start giving it first place in my life.  I declare and decree that God is my protector, and His angels have charge over me.
