Numbers 23:19 (NIV) God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
Did you ever think of that? It is impossible for God to lie! There is no way on planet earth or this entire universe that one lie could come from the lips of God. What is so big about that? Well think of it. If God cannot lie, then whatever we read in His Word has to be truth, and if it is truth, then I can believe it and receive it!
See, faith is born from the seed of trust. If I believe your word, then I will trust you. If you say, “I’ll be there at such a time” and I trust you, I will be waiting for you at that time. But if you are inconsistent with your word and I cannot trust it all the time, then I will not be sure if you are going to be there, so it builds within me a lack of faith in your word.
Brothers and sisters, one thing we can do is trust God and His Word. If God said it, we can believe it, and that settles it. God has never let us down when we held onto His Word in faith, and He will always be true to Himself.
Every day we wake up and we have faith that the sun will rise. In fact, we do not even think about it! We do not wake up and say, “Well, I wonder if the sun is going to rise today.” No, we know it by fact and experience. That is the way we have to get with God’s Word. We need to come to the place of knowing that what He said, He will do, and we can trust in that. Remember, God is not a man that He should lie. He is God!
Confession: It is not possible for God to lie. So the faith that I have that the sun will rise is the faith I have that He will heal my body, and provide for all my needs throughout my life. Let God be true and every man a liar.
