Romans 5:17 (NKJV) For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:17 (AMP) For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
Wow! Are you reading this? Because of Adam, death reigned, yet because of Jesus, and His abundance of grace, and His gift of righteousness, we now reign in life! I like the way the Amplified Bible says it, “We will reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”
Jesus is our righteousness. He is our holiness. We are righteous, holy, redeemed, and blessed today, not because of our good works or our good standing, but because we have received God’s gift of His Son, Jesus Christ.
The law says, “Do this,” and “Do not do that.” Grace says, “We are sons, and as sons we can reign in life! We are more than conquerors! We are victorious! And because of Jesus, we can reign in this life!” Religion says, “We will reign one day, in the sweet by and by,” but Christianity says, “We reign now, in this life, because of Jesus!”
Jesus is the One who died on the cross. He is the One who rose from the dead. Once I accept Him as my personal Lord and Savior and ask Him to forgive me, I become one with Him. God does not see me as me. He sees me as in Him, and when I renew my mind to this truth from His Word, look out! That is when victory comes.
So go ahead and say what God says about you, and start living like a king. Live the abundant life that Jesus promised to each and every one of us. This is not some “pie-in-the-sky faith,” this is reality and truth, in Him!
CONFESSION: Today, I choose to do it the Bible way. I choose the abundant life that God has promised to me. Today, I choose to reign in life, by Jesus Christ.
