HIS PRESENCE

John 14:21 (NKJV) “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

In this scripture, Jesus is showing us how to get into intimacy with the Father.  It is by obeying His commandments.  Many people, when they hear this, say, “Oh yeah, that is right.  I have to do the law.  I have to live under all of those rules and regulations.”  But that is the farthest thing from the truth.

The commandments that Jesus gave us are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our strength, and to love one another.  So, we see that the commandments are love commandments.   Anyone who truly loves God has no problem with the first part.  We love Him and want to be a blessing to Him.  It is the second part that gives us some problems.

Yet, as we make decisions each day to get closer to our Heavenly Father, we see that His love, which is shed abroad in our hearts, flows out to others.   When I love God, His goodness, kindness, and all of the fruit of the Spirit, come into me and flow out from me.

In the last part of this verse, it says that if we do these things, God will manifest Himself to us.  Oh, that is what I want!  How about you?  This means that God will make Himself known to us; He will reveal Himself to us.  This is what David prayed for over and over, especially throughout the Psalms.  He wanted to know God, and He was an Old Testament saint.  How much more should we, as new creations in Christ, desire this!

So today, walk in love.  Get to know the Father, and let His presence come into your life.  Get to know Him like never before.  I will tell you one thing: You will never regret it!  One minute in the presence of God is so powerful, it will shake you for eternity.

Confession:  Today, I am going to love God and love others.  As I do that, the Father will reveal Himself to me.  Today, I want to see Him and know Him.  I want Him more than anything.
