START SMALL AND LET IT GROW

Luke 16:10 (NLTSE) If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.

Many people want the big things before they are faithful in the little things.  But according to this verse, if we are not faithful over the little things, our Heavenly Father is not going to give us the big things.

You see, God is looking for faithfulness.  He is looking for those who will say yes to doing whatever He asks; not whatever we want.  He knows what He has placed within us and as we are faithful to that, then promotion comes.

I read this little quote many years ago and it has stuck with me regarding this subject.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause and say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.’”

You see, if I am not called to be a painter or songwriter, then I will not be judged on that.  However, if I am called to help a senior citizen clean their house, or help someone go to the store once in a while, and I do it, then I will be rewarded on judgment day just like anyone else.

God is not just looking for ability, but for availability. God is looking for those who will be faithful over the little things.  As they do whatever is in their hands, God will promote them and bless them with new things.

Our Heavenly Father blesses those that use the gifts that He has already placed within us.  So what is it that you can do?  Go ahead and do it, and watch and see how God will take something that you might perceive as little, and make it a really big blessing to someone else.  Start small and watch it grow!  It is God’s way, and it is the only way.

Confession:  I see that as I am faithful over little things, God will give me more responsibilities. As I say yes today to what He has placed within me, He will take me to a new level in Him.
