THE POWER OF THE TONGUE

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Now this is a scripture that we need to chew on!  If this is saying what I believe it is saying, then what I speak has a big part to play in my life.  I can see why this world is so negative.  It is because the devil wants people to have death in their lives.

He tries to get us to talk death over ourselves and our families.  He tries to get us to talk sickness, lack, destruction, and more.  But he has been exposed!  We see now that the power is in what we say, so we need to put a watch over our tongues.  We need to watch the words that come out of our mouths.

Now, we can look at this verse and just dwell on the death part, but how about the life part?  This verse says that there can be life in our tongues.  We can speak life over ourselves, our families, and the situations in our lives.  Instead of talking about every negative thing that is out there, let us talk the Word.  What does the Word say about the situation?  What does the Word have to say about what I am going through?

We can also say it like this, “What does Jesus have to say about this?”  He and His Word are one.  What does Jesus have to say about sickness and disease?  What does Jesus have to say about lack, depression, or being unloved?

When you find the truth from His Word, say it!  Let life come out of your mouth.  Hey, you are going to eat the fruit of it, so you may as well make it good fruit!  What do you say?

Confession: Today, I am going to watch what comes out of my mouth.  Your Word is life to all of my flesh, so I choose to speak life.  I choose to speak what You, Father, have already declared.  I declare, God is true and everything else that does not agree with His Word is a lie!
